Many trails do require a pass. We will put what type of pass you need on each hike’s information. Passes are available at most of the trail heads, local Ranger or state park stations.
Most trails will allow you to bring your dog with you as long as they are on a leash. We will inform you about any of the hiking trails that do not allow dogs.
If you know that a team member will not be able to make every hike then make them an “Honorary Member” of your team – they will be part of your team but won’t be required to complete every hike.
In our experience, teams of no more than 10 are ideal. You can have more than 10 people if you like, however remember that each regular member on your team has to complete each hike together. We have found that those with smaller teams find it easier to work out schedules for each hike. The minimum for a team is two. Important: If you have more than 10 team members, you may not register online. Instead, please call United Fitness Center at 360-854-0247
Teams need to complete each hike together. If you think there will be a problem with schedules either designate some of your members Honorary Members or have smaller teams.
Each team is allowed one extension. If you get an extension on a hike then you need to finish both hikes (the extended one and the current one) by the end of the current hike time frame.
Our goal is to have all of the hikes within an hour and a half radius of Sedro-Woolley. Some of our hikes will be further away than others, but it will be well worth it.
If your team is unable to accomplish a hike in the designated time period (and you have already used the one extension you have for the challenge) then your team will not be eligible to win the final treasure. You will still receive each hike; you just won’t receive the final clue.
The length and difficulty of the hikes are different based on which Level your team has chosen. The hikes start off in the easier range and get progressively harder as the challenge goes along.
Level I is for those who prefer easy to moderate hikes with less elevation gain. Distances will range from 1.5-5 miles in length round-trip, and elevation change will range from 0-1,300 feet. Level II is for those who prefer moderate to intermediate level hikes. Distances will range from 3-10 miles in length round-trip, and elevation change will range from 0-3,500 feet.
All team members (with the exception of “Honorary” members) are required to complete each hike together and take a photo of all team members at the end of the hike. Your team captain must email the photo to trekfortreasure@unitedgeneral.org in order to receive credit.
You can email trekfortreasure@unitedgeneral.org and we can try to pair you up with a fellow solo trekker.
Unfortunately, we can no longer accept check or cash payments for Trek for Treasure team registration. Online payments can be made by credit card on our registration page beginning April 1st.
Hike information will be emailed to your captain and co-captain on the morning each hike is published. The email will contain a password to be used on this website to unlock the hike story, map, and directions. See the 2021 calendar for hike start dates.
Please make sure to check all junk/spam folders for the email(s). If you find the email in your junk folder, be sure to mark us as a safe sender to ensure you receive them to your inbox in the future. If you do not see our email in any of your folders after an hour, please call us at 360-854-0247 or email treakfortreasure@unitedgeneral.org and we will resend it.
After you successfully register and pay for your team, you can pick up your T-shirts at United Fitness Center located at 2015 Hospital Dr, Sedro-Woolley.
Your team must complete each hike and email us your team photo as proof by the end of the allotted two-week period. The team photo must be taken at the hike’s destination (where you find the code), and must include all team members that are not designated as “honorary”.
We are taking steps with our hosting provider to ensure the site remains up during the heavy traffic experienced on Final Challenge day. However, if you cannot access the website, you can pick up printed instructions beginning at 8am at United Fitness Center: 2015 Hospital Dr., Sedro-Woolley.
All children under the age of 18 must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian to participate in Trek for Treasure. If the person registering a team online is the parent or guardian of all the children on that team, then consent can be given online at the time of registration. Otherwise, you may download this form to complete and email/mail to United Fitness Center.
